DISCOVER THE WILD BEAUTY OF ROMANIJA

Bosnian mountains may not boast the highest peaks in Europe, but it's hard to find a mountaineer who wouldn't fall in love with our country and its mountains.

DISCOVER THE WILD BEAUTY OF ROMANIJA

Easy walks, hiking, mountaineering, climbing, skiing - terrains suitable for everyone. Green meadows and flowery blankets, vast forests, cold stones, the most beautiful landscapes - all can be seen in our country in the shape of a heart.

But there's one mountain unfairly neglected, Romanija, a rugged beauty known for its striking rocky relief. A wild mountain, they say. Perhaps it's this wilderness and inaccessibility that makes it so fascinating. Its natural and touristic potential is shared by the municipalities of Sokolac and Pale, and its most striking relief, the Red Rocks, is now a protected natural monument.

Perception can be deceiving. Romanija may seem inaccessible, but this mountain near Sarajevo has tens of kilometers of marked hiking and mountaineering trails, with tourist signage, benches, viewpoints, and a paragliding take-off site. All for safe movement, yet you still have the feeling of wilderness.

Its highest peak is Veliki Lupoglav with an altitude of 1,652 meters, and its recognizable feature is a large rocky barrier composed of Flat Rocks, Eagle Rocks, the aforementioned Red Rocks, Black Rocks, Đeva or Maiden Rocks, and Big Rocks. Vertical rocky cliffs over a hundred meters high are a masterpiece of nature."
