The Mayor of Sokolac, Strahinja Bašević, expressed his satisfaction with the realization of the ski-lift construction project near the town center after two years of dedicated efforts. The project, valued at 350,000 BAM, was completed with the support of the Government and Ministry of Finance of Republika Srpska, the President of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, and the Mayor of East Sarajevo, Ljubiša Ćosić, who contributed a portion of the funds.

"This is a small-scale project in terms of the invested funds compared to the larger ski resorts in the region. However, its significance for our local community, which is striving to develop tourism, is enormous," Bašević stated.

He emphasized that the facility is especially important for children and young people eager to learn how to ski.

Unlike well-known ski centers in the area, the ski-lift at Puhovac is specifically designed for children.

Bašević noted that the ski-lift was not operational at the end of last year due to a lack of snow. However, both daytime and nighttime skiing were successfully tested yesterday. Starting today, under illuminated slopes, young skiers can enjoy the resort's winter activities.

"With favorable weather conditions, the holiday season, and the school break, we expect children from neighboring municipalities to join us and take part in the winter fun," Bašević added.

The Puhovac ski-lift features high-quality slopes, including one for night skiing and three for daytime skiing, each approximately 800 meters long. The slopes are meticulously prepared with a snow groomer, and sub-zero nighttime temperatures ensure excellent skiing conditions.

In addition to the ski-lift, the resort offers a range of amenities, including a support building, a restaurant, a café, and a ski rental with over 50 pairs of skis available for visitors.
