Once again, Banja Luka will play host to the regional event, Night of Fortresses, aimed at connecting and promoting programs at fortification sites across Europe. The event will take place on May 10th at Kastel Castle.
The goal of the Night of Fortresses, which has previously
united 45 fortification sites in six European countries, is to enhance the
cultural and touristic offerings in European cities with established heritage
and to raise awareness about the potential and importance of cultural heritage
valorization as a driver of cultural tourism development.
Night of Fortresses fosters and strengthens collaboration among cities and organizations managing fortified heritage sites.
The event is supported by international associations such as
EFFORTS (European Federation of Fortified Sites) and FORTE CULTURA, which have
included Night of Fortresses as part of the European Fortress Summer Event.
The inaugural Night of Fortresses took place in 2022 in
Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a result of the joint
European project FORTITUDE. This year, the organizers of the event, Fortress of
Culture Šibenik, the City of Karlovac, the Municipality of Bar, and the City of
Banja Luka, are joined by partners from the City of Trebinje and the
Municipality of Ulcinj.
