NEW PARK IN BANJA LUKA TO SHOWCASE RARE AND EXOTIC TREES FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Planting of rare tree species originating from various parts of the world, which are almost nonexistent or very rare in the city's public green spaces, is currently underway in preparation for a unique new park in Banja Luka.

According to the Department of Communal Affairs, the future park will be located in the Obilićevo neighborhood, near the “Petar Petrović Njegoš” Primary School, where benches have already been installed.

"In addition to being dedicated to the preservation of rare and exotic trees, the park will serve as an educational center for schoolchildren, students, and citizens. It will be a true oasis of nature within the city, free of concrete surfaces, serving as a space for relaxation and education while also holding significant tourist potential," stated the Department of Communal Affairs.

They added that the plan includes placing signs next to the saplings so visitors can learn more about each rare tree species.

"This project will enable students and others to learn about biodiversity and the importance of environmental conservation through outdoor lessons," the department noted.

They further mentioned that the park is a donation from the company "Mikroelektronika" a.d. from Banja Luka.
