The city is set to enhance its tourism offerings with the renovated Spa and Recreational Center in Srpske Toplice, eagerly anticipated by the locals and all who wish to enjoy the benefits of thermomineral waters.
Located at the site of the former “Šeher” pool, the visitors will have access to a salt room, sauna, Turkish bath, and a plethora of other facilities. According to the Institute for Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Orthopedic Surgery “Dr. Miroslav Zotović,” which is constructing this magnificent spa, the technical inspection of the facility and infrastructure is underway, along with the process of public procurement for interior furnishing.
“After acquiring the necessary documentation and furnishing, the facility will be operational,” stated the representatives from "Zotović".
The facility is intended for all users of health and recreational services, offering treatment options with a doctor's referral, as well as relaxation and recreation for those willing to pay for the service.
“The price list will be established before the facility becomes operational,” they added, noting that it will be aligned with the price lists of other health institutions in the region that provide high-quality services. The facility is primarily therapeutic (spa services) and combines therapeutic content with recreational and aesthetic segments.
“The main focus will be on the quality, modern, and rational use of the natural resource of thermomineral water, implying a number of aquatic and supplementary facilities,” they explained. These include indoor and outdoor pools, a children's pool with a sunbathing area, a wellness pool, massages, saunas, a salt room, Turkish bath, fitness center, gym, and more.
Borka Antonijević, a visitor from Belgrade who visited her relatives in Banja Luka, expressed her excitement about the soon-to-open spa in Srpske Toplice, as she would like to spend her vacation there. “Every summer, I visit a spa and return home rejuvenated. I am confident that this spa and recreational center will become a new destination for everyone concerned about their health and wishing to experience the charms of thermomineral waters,” said Antonijević.
The reconstruction project of the old spa aims to create a complex that meets all the modern needs for recreation, health preservation, treatment, and recovery.
The use of water from the former Šeher spa has a long tradition dating back to the time of the ancient Romans, highlighting the great potential of this area for health tourism and health promotion. This neighborhood in Banja Luka represents the oldest city quarter, known for its thermomineral water springs and as the habitat of an endemic fern with the fairy-tale name vilina vlas.
Due to the unique ambiance created by the use of thermomineral waters, the space where the spa and recreational center is located is protected and classified as a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“A vision for transforming this space was defined, starting with a complete reconstruction of the former pool facility,” stated on the website of the Institute “Dr. Miroslav Zotović”. They add that special attention was paid to preserving the ambient context and the values of the national monument during the reconstruction and revitalization process.
