KASTEL TO HOST ARCHAEOLOGY SCHOOL PROJECT

Starting today, October 28, until Friday, November 1, the Museum of the Republic of Srpska, in collaboration with the Archaeological Society of the Republic of Srpska, the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Banja Luka, and the Faculty of Philosophy at the East Sarajevo University, with the consent of the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural, Historical, and Natural Heritage of the Republic of Srpska, will implement the project "Archaeology School – Kastel 2024."

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska and the City of Banja Luka. This year, the focus will be on continuing work at the Kastel archaeological site, particularly in the Courtyard II area, along with a series of lectures in the fields of archaeology and museology at the Museum of the Republic of Srpska. 

According to the program, fieldwork will take place every working day from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, while public lectures are scheduled for 7:00 PM at the Museum of the Republic of Srpska.

In addition to practical fieldwork, the afternoon lectures will feature experts from various fields of archaeology and museology. The lectures are open to the public, and, as in previous years, a significant interest from citizens is expected. 

Every year, in cooperation with elementary schools, students from the first to fifth grades visit the excavations to learn about the work of archaeologists in the field and the importance of preserving cultural heritage, as emphasized by the Museum.
