The Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Kotor Varoš, in cooperation with the Association of Fruit Producers and under the patronage of the local government, will host the First Rakija Festival titled “Through the Vrbanja Valley” on July 9.
The
festival aims to support and promote local production while also connecting
rakija producers with potential buyers and enthusiasts of this traditional
spirit.
The
event will take place at 7:00 PM on the newly renovated city promenade, where
visitors will be able to enjoy free tastings of high-quality, authentic rakija
varieties from Kotor Varoš, nearby municipalities, and the wider region.
Nemanja Knežević, Director of the Tourist Organization of Kotor Varoš, stated that the deadline for submitting samples has passed.
"Exhibitors
will showcase their best rakija varieties, including šljivovica (plum brandy),
viljamovka (pear brandy), quince rakija, and other specialties – many of which
have already won awards at national and international fairs," Knežević
added.
This
unique event provides a chance for rakija lovers to explore a wide range of
flavors and aromas of traditional domestic products and learn more about
heritage-rich production techniques passed down through generations.
“Don’t
miss this special opportunity to enjoy premium local rakija and support our
producers. The goal is not to compete, but to share experiences and learn from
one another,” Knežević concluded.
