The aroma of homemade plum brandy, cheerful songs, and laughter filled the air in Trn near Laktaši during the second Rakija Festival — an event that once again brought together tradition, hospitality, and the genuine spirit of this region.
Visitors had the opportunity to taste the finest varieties of rakija made from plum, pear, apple, quince, and honey. Special attention was drawn to young producers who skillfully combine traditional recipes with modern distillation technology.
According to the organizers, the main goal of the festival is to promote domestic production and support the development of the brand Rakija Srpska.
Exhibitors say the festival means a lot to them.
“The atmosphere is always great, and we also get the chance to exchange contacts with one another. It’s both pleasant and useful,” said one of the exhibitors.
The same enthusiasm was shared by a visitor who traveled all the way from Trebinje to attend the event in Banja Luka.
“There’s really a lot to see and taste here, from food to drinks. In our culture, rakija is part of every moment — whether happy or sad. After all, a house without rakija has no host,” he concluded.
The festival was organized by the Association of Alcohol Beverage Producers Rakije Srpske and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska and the City of Laktaši.
