The viral Dubai chocolate can now be tasted in the heart of Semberija. The Sjerić family from the village of Ljeljenča, near Bijeljina, has taken on the challenge of crafting this globally popular treat that has gained fame on social media.
Although
originally developed by the brand The Fix in Dubai, this delicacy has become an
"internet sensation" that everyone wants to try or replicate. Its
unique combination of chocolate, pistachio cream, and kadaif makes it stand
out.
For
those curious about the reception of Dubai chocolate in Semberija, the answer
is clear: there’s a waiting list to get it.
"Customer
reactions have been overwhelmingly positive because the flavor of Dubai
chocolate is truly special. Deliveries take a few days, and the demand is
enormous. The chocolate’s taste is unique, and its texture is crispy thanks to
kadaif," Niko Sjerić told the eKapija portal.
Niko explained that the family ventured into making Dubai chocolate at the suggestion of his daughter.
"Since
Dubai chocolate was already a social media hit, my daughter Nikolina encouraged
us to try making it, and we succeeded. Every new product is a challenge, and
this mega-popular chocolate was no exception," he said.
Production
relies on handcrafting, as do other products from the Sjerić household,
overseen by Niko's wife, Milena.
In
addition to Dubai chocolate, the family produces dark, milk, and white
chocolate with roasted pumpkin seeds, as well as cold-pressed pumpkin seed oil
and pumpkin seed flour.
"The
household planted its first pumpkin crops in 2010. A few years later, we started
processing pumpkins, mainly pressing oil. Over time, we expanded to new
products, and chocolate production began in 2020," Niko explained.
The
family business delivers its products directly to customers via express courier
services. As with many family businesses, everyone is involved.
"My
daughter Nikolina, a graphic design engineer, handles packaging design,
marketing, and sales. My wife manages production, while I take care of sourcing
raw materials and machinery. My son and daughter-in-law step in to help when
needed," Niko shared.
Operating under the company name Prirodno Plus d.o.o. Bijeljina, the family business is present on social media, describing itself with three words: "Quality. Tradition. Family."
"These
principles guide us in our work – high-quality raw materials and products. Our
goods are not industrially made; each item requires handcrafting. Tradition
provides a unique identity, while family gives strength and unity. 'Prirodno
Plus' means we use natural ingredients and strive to add extra value to every
product," said Niko.
Looking
ahead, the Sjerić household plans to introduce new products next year.
"We'll
see where the focus lies since the raw material market changes yearly. This
year, for example, chocolate prices have risen by over 80% globally, impacting
small producers like us," Niko noted.
What
is certain is that Dubai chocolate will remain a staple in their regular
production.
"The
quantities will depend on demand. In the future, other products may become
popular, but it’s hard to imagine anything surpassing the viral Dubai
chocolate," Niko concluded.
