REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA SETS NEW TOURISM RECORD!
The Republic of Srpska achieved a new milestone in tourism last year, with 493,257 tourist arrivals and 1,176,689 overnight stays, surpassing the previous record set in 2023 of 1,112,306 overnight stays, according to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Srpska.
This marks the third consecutive year of record-breaking overnight stays in Srpska. Tourists from Serbia accounted for the largest share of overnight stays (225,314), followed by visitors from Croatia (156,918), Slovenia (82,458), Turkey (34,240), and Montenegro (30,759).
Tourists spent 393,967 nights in spas, 133,215 in mountain resorts, and 74,424 in other locations, while 575,083 overnight stays were recorded in other tourist destinations.
Expressed in percentages, tourist arrivals last year increased by 2.5% compared to 2023, while overnight stays grew by 5.8% over the same period. Domestic tourists contributed 190,289 arrivals and 479,654 overnight stays, while foreign tourists accounted for 302,968 arrivals and 697,035 overnight stays. Compared to 2023, domestic overnight stays saw a slight decrease of 0.2%, while foreign overnight stays rose significantly by 10.4%.
According to the activity classification, over one million overnight stays were recorded in hotels and similar accommodations. Health resorts accounted for 81,511 overnight stays, campsites and camping areas for 12,202, and holiday resorts and similar short-stay facilities for 6,555.
As of September 30, 2023, the hospitality and tourism sector, including accommodation services, food preparation, and serving, employed 13,293 workers, representing 4.6% of the total workforce in the Republic of Srpska.
The sector contributed 1.3% to the gross domestic product (GDP) of Srpska in 2023, with a real growth rate of 6.1% compared to 2022.
This upward trend highlights the growing appeal of the Republic of Srpska as a tourist destination and its significant contribution to the local economy.
