COMPLETE RECONSTRUCTION OF KASTEL FORTRESS BY SUMMER

The city administration remains focused on the reconstruction and restoration of Kastel Fortress, one of the most significant cultural and historical landmarks in Banja Luka.

"After successfully implementing the fortress wall lighting project last year, which received extremely positive reactions from citizens, this year we are continuing with ambitious renovation plans," said Milada Šukalo, advisor to the mayor of Banja Luka.

She explained that this phase of reconstruction will include the complete renovation and modern equipping of Tower 1 and Tower 2.

"According to the project plan, Tower 1 will house a tourist information center, providing visitors with all necessary information about Kastel Fortress and other important tourist attractions in the city. Tower 2 will feature a souvenir shop and a café," she emphasized.

She also highlighted that this project will be carried out with the support of the European Union, which is of great importance, as the need for restoring the fortress walls and towers far exceeds the financial capacity of the city budget.

"That is why our focus is on initiatives that can be realized through international projects and funds, ensuring that the fortress gets a completely new look. The reconstruction will begin in the coming months, and according to the plans, the work will be completed by summer. The towers will be fully restored and modernly equipped, thereby enhancing the city's tourism infrastructure," Šukalo stated.

She concluded that with this project, which will result in a fully renovated and equipped Kastel Fortress, the city of Banja Luka is preserving its cultural heritage and further strengthening its position on the tourist map.
