BITCOIN WORTH AS MUCH AS AN APARTMENT IN BANJA LUKA!

The value of the world's most famous cryptocurrency has reached a historic peak of $91,500 these days, and those in Republika Srpska who purchased a single Bitcoin ten years ago can now buy an apartment in Banja Luka with it.

The first cryptocurrency exchange in Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, "BCX", is also breaking records these days, gaining up to 50 new users daily.

"We have about 30,000 users. Just ten days ago, we were getting around 20 new users daily, and now that number has more than doubled. The reason is the tremendous rise in Bitcoin's price, driven by Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. elections. That was the trigger. The moment his win was announced, Bitcoin's value started to climb, and it remains the dominant currency in the crypto market," said Boris Majstorović, Executive Director of "BCX", for Glas Srpske.

He noted that cryptocurrency was initially purchased mostly by tech-savvy individuals, but nowadays, there are no such rules.

"In addition to IT experts, we’ve had people mining cryptocurrencies who also buy more, and some even took loans to invest. Many now recognize cryptocurrencies as a good investment. Among our users, we have priests, auto mechanics, homemakers, professors, and journalists—a wide range of clients. In terms of age, most are between 18 and 45 years old. However, we even had an 85-year-old client," said Majstorović.

He believes Bitcoin's value could reach $100,000 by the end of the year.

"Currently, the value of one Bitcoin in our region is around 170,000 BAM, which is a huge amount, and you can literally buy a decent apartment with it," Majstorović added.

He explained that before selling their services, they first have to educate users on basic concepts, such as digital wallets, how to receive cryptocurrency, and how to sell it.

Majstorović emphasized that cryptocurrencies are legally regulated by the Law on the Securities Market.

"The area of anti-money laundering is defined. What we need on our market is a law on digital assets modeled after the EU. For now, there is no information that the Ministry of Finance is working on this issue. I believe they are waiting to see what happens in the EU, as the law there will come into effect at the end of the year," he explained.

He pointed out that, unlike the Federation of BiH and some neighboring countries, Republika Srpska has at least a basic legal framework for this area.

Majstorović highlighted the great expectations placed on Trump and his administration concerning cryptocurrencies, considering his campaign promises about making changes.

"The United States is a global superpower, and its stance on cryptocurrencies is crucial. Clearer regulations have been announced, and Trump said he supports them, aiming to make the U.S. the global capital of cryptocurrencies. These high expectations have driven Bitcoin's value up. However, if his actions are not swift, clear, and in line with investors' expectations, there could be massive disappointment, leading to a significant drop in Bitcoin's value," Majstorović warned.

He added that cryptocurrency values have been rising throughout this year, which was expected, especially with the approval of the first Bitcoin and Ethereum funds in the U.S.
