According to official data, the total area under intensive vineyard cultivation in Bosnia and Herzegovina during 2024 amounted to 4,603.9 hectares, producing a total of 37,522.6 tons of grapes.
Vineyards in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina cover about 4,000 hectares, with approximately 13.7 million fruit-bearing vines planted. From these areas, 34,915 tons of grapes were harvested in 2024. Compared to the previous year, vineyard areas increased by 47 percent, resulting in a 40 percent rise in grape production, the Ministry stated.
In contrast, vineyards in Republika Srpska covered a total of 603.9 hectares last year, yielding 2,607.6 tons of grapes.
“The vineyard area recorded an increase of 15.3 hectares, or three percent, compared to the previous year. The average yield per hectare reached 4.3 tons, which is 10 percent higher than last year. Overall grape production in Republika Srpska grew by 302 tons, or 13 percent, compared to the previous year,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Grape production in Bosnia and Herzegovina remains significantly more prominent in the Federation of BiH than in Republika Srpska, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations confirmed to the InfoBijeljina portal.
