THE MOST WINDING RIVER IN THE WORLD (VIDEO)

Šujica is a disappearing river, originating south of the Kupres Field from two sources, Mali and Veliki Stržanj. This river, 48.5 km long, with an interesting course full of bends, has been dubbed by the publicist Zuko Džumhur as the most winding river in the world.

From its source, it flows through a narrow and canyon-like bed. In the Šuićko Polje, it receives the right tributary Jaruga, and then continues through the canyon until it enters the Duvanjsko Polje.

The river disappears underground in the large karst spring of Kovači, in the nearby village of the same name, in the southwestern part of the Duvanjsko Polje.

The waters of Šujica partially resurface at the source of Ričina in the village of Prisoje, which, after a short flow of approximately 0-50 meters, depending on the water level in the reservoir, flows into the Buško Lake reservoir.

The river is still clean, and trout, grayling, and freshwater crayfish inhabit its waters. The tail of the crayfish in this area is called "šuja," so it is believed that both the place and the river were named after it.
