The warm and sunny weather during the first days of 2025 has brought crowds of visitors and locals outdoors in Trebinje, the southernmost city of Republika Srpska. Many enjoyed walking through Jovan Dučić Street, the Old Town, or the park, while others relaxed in the terraces of the city’s numerous cafés, sipping coffee, juice, or other beverages.
Visitors from across the region—Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, and beyond—came to bask in the city’s sunshine, escaping the smog and cold conditions in their hometowns.
Fatima Torlo from Mostar decided to spend the first day of the New Year with her husband and friends in Trebinje.
“I chose the first day of the New Year to visit Trebinje for the very first time. I’m amazed—it’s absolutely beautiful. It truly lives up to its nickname as the City of Sun. We’ll be back soon, and I wish everyone health, happiness, and joy,” Torlo said.
Milica Mitrović, originally from Trebinje but now living in Belgrade, came to spend time with her family in the city by the Trebišnjica River.
“I visit often, but this is my first time coming during the holidays. It’s wonderful. Belgrade is never as sunny and pleasant as Trebinje, and there’s no place with such warm, cheerful, and positive people. I wish everyone good health, more social gatherings, and plenty of positivity and joyful moments,” Mitrović shared.
Milovan Petrović from Slovenia spent New Year’s Eve in Budva but couldn’t resist making a trip to Trebinje on this beautiful day.
“Budva was fantastic last night, but today we decided to visit Trebinje. What can I say? It’s stunning. The sun’s warmth is intoxicating, and the people’s smiles are heartwarming. It’s been a while since I’ve been here, but this city always leaves me with wonderful memories. That’s why I keep coming back,” Petrović said.
