AUGUST IN VIŠEGRAD: A MONTH OF CULTURE, TRADITION, AND SPORTING EVENTS

Višegrad, a town already renowned as a cultural tourism destination, is preparing for a vibrant August filled with cultural, tourist, and sporting events, according to the municipality’s mayor, Mladen Đurević.

AUGUST IN VIŠEGRAD: A MONTH OF CULTURE, TRADITION, AND SPORTING EVENTS

“August in Višegrad will be marked by events that promote tradition, culture, gastronomy, and sports,” Đurević stated. “As in previous years, our municipality will host numerous events that make it recognizable and attractive to visitors.”

A highlight of the month is the Second Craft Beer Festival, which will take place on August 16 at the garden of Hotel Višegrad, starting at 8:00 PM. A rock concert is scheduled for 9:00 PM. “Beer lovers will have the chance to taste a variety of local craft beers while enjoying great music and atmosphere,” Đurević said.

On August 17, the children’s folklore festival “Licider Heart” will be held in Andrićgrad, gathering young performers from various countries. Just days later, on August 22, the Art Colony will be officially opened, bringing together visual artists to create and showcase their work.

One of the most anticipated events of the year, the Traditional Bridge Diving Competition from Višegrad’s famous Ottoman bridge, will be held on August 23. “This is the most attractive sports-tourism event of the year, drawing competitors from across the region,” Đurević noted.

Cycling enthusiasts will take on a challenging course during the MTB Marathon on August 24, which includes a 36-kilometer track with an elevation gain of more than 600 meters, starting from the town center.

Later in the month, August 30 will see the 17th International Honey and Beekeeping Equipment Fair hosted in Andrićgrad. The event will feature beekeepers from across the region and include expert lectures on beekeeping practices.

Wrapping up the month, the “Bambi Cup”—a traditional youth football tournament—will be held on August 30 and 31 at the town stadium. The tournament will bring together teams from several cities, organized by the Youth Football Club “Bambi–Soko.”

Mayor Đurević invited both locals and visitors to experience Višegrad this August, encouraging everyone to enjoy a wide range of events that highlight the town’s role as a center of culture, art, and sports.
